East Hamblen Warriors wrestler, Griffyn Broyles, deserves a Shout Out for his reaction to a special phone call he received. Broyles, 15, competes at the 141lb weight class for his Morristown, Tennessee team. A seriously committed athlete, fan and consumer of anything wrestling, Broyless got the surprise birthday phone call of his dreams!
Thanks to some groundwork from his parents, Broyles had the opportunity to chat with his idol Henry Cejudo, 2008 Olympic Gold medalist. Cejudo became the youngest American to ever win a wrestling gold medal after clinching the 121lb weight class in Beijing.
Broyles, an undefeated AAU wrestler hopes to follow in his mentor’s footsteps. We just hope his nerves on the phone don’t follow him to the mat!
I need to makea correction. The news paper listed Griffyn as15 and he is 14. I would also like to say that since this phone call Griffyn has compteted in two events.
He recieved third at the Sharpshooters event, competeing against previous champs, and second at the Bristol brawls, losing only to a VA state champ! At the Bristol event he was also invited to participate in the Ohio invitational! We are very proud!
that kid was surrprised!
