For more than five years, Gail Akers has proudly held the role of Parent Coordinator for Beacon House Ministries, a 10 team Pop Warner league in Washington, DC. Today however, she can add Weplayer of the Month to her resume.

Over the course of the fall sports season, she uploaded hundreds of practice and game photos, sent numerous messages to parents and rewarded players with props and words of encouragement – earning her more than 5,000 “W”points in the month of September (the minimum requirement to qualify for WPOM).

She joined the Beacon House family when her son, Maurice Vaughn Sr., became head coach. Both Gail and her son believe that education through sports can develop children of high character, who lead, preserve, and overcome adversity while being productive team members. In fact, Coach Vaughn’s peewee team made it to the 2007 Pop Warner Super Bowl and won, coming back from a halftime deficit.

In fact, even her players are spreading the word, encouraging other teams and players to join and build group pages.
