Passion is almost always the driving factor for successful athletes and coaches. Any pro athlete will tell you that passion for their craft is what lifted them to the top. Well, anybody familiar with soccer in Bethesda, MD knows a coach who is a shining example of this drive.
Bethesda is home to one of the finest U11 girls soccer teams around - the Bethesda Classic Dolphins. The Dolphins play year round, not limited to the Fall like most other teams. What's even more interesting is that the coaching staff is comprised completely of volunteers. His passion and dedication to soccer, above most other things, are why we chose Head Coach Steve Cohn as our Coach of the Week.
During his six year tenure as head coach, Coach Cohn has earned memberships in the NSCAA, Club U.S. Soccer, and Montgomery Soccer Inc. He has seen his Dolphins compete very strongly in a number of regional tournaments. When asked what his favorite part of coaching is, Coach Cohn replied: "The opportunity to coach young athletes, to realize their success, is a priceless reward."
Coach Cohn very wisely uses the Dolphins' Weplay Group Page to post practice schedules, rosters, and workout plans. It is clear that coach is dedicated to preparation and organization both on and off the field. He knows that the game is won or lost on the practice field, before the game begins. Coach Cohn, we here at Weplay wish you well in 2010!!
Coach Steven Cohn's Keys To Success:
The game is won or lost on the practice field.
It is very important to be organized. The coaches, parents, and kids must all be on the same page.
Fundamentals are the key to soccer: Dribbling, Ball Control, Passing, Shooting, Tackling
Kudos Coach Cohn, keep up the good work with the girls.
Congratulations! Love your quote too.
