On December 31st 2010, twenty-eight cheerleaders from Windsor High School will have the opportunity to cheer in the Liberty Bowl half-time show and parade. Thanks to their dedicated coach, Michelle Hrastich, they will join 1500 other cheer, dance and band members from across the country for this huge event. If it wasn’t for their countless hours of fundraising this opportunity would never have been possible.
The Windsor cheerleaders in the past year have helped raise nearly $3,000 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Plus, they have helped launch a monthly, district wide PINK OUT day, in which students and staff wear pink shirts to show their support for breast cancer awareness. The countless hours dedicated to her team and fundraising is what makes Michelle Hrastich our Coach of the Week.
Hrastich started coaching dance and cheer about ten years ago, which has lead her to her dream job as a teacher. When Hrastich is not hard at work helping her team raise money, she is a high school Physics and Earth Science teacher. She loves teaching and is working to take her career to the next level by earning her master’s degree at night.
Her on-the-go schedule does not leave much time to be disorganized and that’s why Hrastich has found that Weplay has made a huge difference in how smoothly the program runs. “I absolutely love Weplay.com!” wrote Hrastich. It has been a great way for her team to share schedules, pictures, movies, and more all in one place.
Congratulations again Michelle, on being named our Coach of the Week. Good luck at the Liberty bowl, and be sure to send us pictures from the event!
