Chance Anthony of Kentucky Earns $10,000 Scholarship

By Kim White

"One hand or not, you can still catch a football," wrote the 2010 High School Rudy Award winner and recipient of a $10,000 college scholarship, Chance Anthony of Hardinsbug, Kentucky. The High School Rudy Awards searches for the most inspirational football players in America who best exemplifies the values of football legend Daniel ‘Rudy’ Ruettiger.

Anthony has been a four-year starter for the Breckinridge County High School football team and can bench press 235 pounds despite the fact that he was born missing the lower half of his right arm.

"Sometimes my friends forget I've only got one hand," said Anthony.

A strong, talented and driven young man, Anthony continues to succeed, not allowing an ailment to become a limitation. In short, he makes the best of every opportunity, including each moment on the football field.

"I know I'm going to look back and really appreciate Coach giving me the opportunity to be the best I could be," he shared. Anthony will be honored in his hometown this February.
