Canada’s Spotlight – 3 Billion Viewers Expected for Opening Ceremony
By Candice CootsToday is Friday February 12th, 2010. Tonight at 6PM PST Canadians will welcome the world to the 2010 Winter Olympic Games with a spectacular Opening Ceremonies event. Lucky ticket holders will gather at the BC Place Stadium in downtown, Vancouver for the historic tradition. Only 3 billion viewers are expected to tune in!
While NBC and its affiliate channels will provide round-the-clock coverage of Olympic events, Weplay is the number one resource for kids following the Games. Join our 2010 Winter Olympics group for the best coverage and inside scoops.
Why? Because legendary Olympians like Summer Sanders (2-time gold medal swimmer) and Jennie Finch (gold and silver medal softball player) are contributing daily coverage. Even soccer star Brandi Chastain, is sharing her favorite memories from the Games.
Did I mention that current members of the US Olympic team: Julie Chu and Natalie Darwitz (US Women’s Hockey) will share photos, videos and fun stories from Vancouver. Plus US Men’s Hockey players, Patrick Kane and Erik Johnson may pop in with a few stories and updates from the rink.
As I write this, there’s less than four hours until the Opening Ceremonies take off. No need to wait it out, there’s already tons of amazing content in the 2010 Winter Olympics group. Summer Sanders even posted her first morning update from the games. You have to check out her post.
Summer may be covering the games for NBC Universal, but each morning, she’s giving Weplay the inside dish on the vibe, community and competitions in Vancouver. That’s right, everyday for the next 17-days, Summer will post her Olympic news updates exclusively on Weplay.
Summer’s thrilled to be sharing updates saying, “Weplay provides a meaningful opportunity for us to give back to the youth sports community in which we all were nurtured,”
Let the Games Begin!
Oh P.S – The 2010 Winter Olympics group features a medal tracking widget. Stay in the know for the next two weeks!
