One of America’s corporate leaders has stepped up to the plate giving more than twenty-thousand kids a winning chance. SUPERVALU has seen ‘value’ reaching parents and youth in sports and so far this grocery giant committed $1 million to support more than 1,500 youth teams in markets all over the United States.
The sponsorship which began in the spring of 2011 has offset costs for kids aged 4-10 registered in baseball and soccer. They’ve provided everything from jerseys; ball caps; water bottles and have even pitched in dollars for playing time on diamonds and fields – the biggest expense.
“As America’s Neighborhood Grocer, we are continuously looking for opportunities to give back to our local communities, particularly in areas that promote healthy lifestyles,” says Shelly Nelson, SUPERVALU corporate director of strategic media services. “Because diet and exercise are important to well-being, we saw this sponsorship as a complement to our focus on helping our shoppers eat well and a nice way to support stronger -- and healthier -- neighborhoods.”
SUPERVALU’s youth sports participation is a win-win for parents and the grocer. A Rock Solid Prop!
